Why a subscription box?
I was getting asked this question a lot, and for the haters I guess its a bit of an obvious cop-out excuse “but aren’t they reusable so you only need a couple of pads?”
Well this can be true for some of us, and particularly if you don’t mind washing and tumble drying pads literally every day of your period then sticking to 3 or 4 pads could always work.
But more often it’s a little more complex than that. Our daily lives are more complex than that…and so are our cycles!
Every menstrual cycle is different
I don’t have to tell you that every woman is different. We are now brought up to know this from a very early age that it’s our uniqueness that makes us who we are. And as a passionate believer in DEI of course I have to mention that it’s not exclusively women who bleed monthly.
Menstruators are no longer 50’s housewives with a one fits all lack of career or education. We are individuals who are more capable of making our own decisions and judgements than any marketing campaign can influence.
The fact that our flow varies depending on the day of our cycle, and is even different from month to month, means that a variety of pad types and absorbencies helps to manage normal cycle fluctuations and adds to our own comfort.
Every pad design is different
On your first or second day you could absolutely without a doubt need the most absorbent Baba + Boo XL pad that I recommend as a first option for heavy flows; but the next day you could find that as your flow decreases, a thinner La Petite Ourse night pad may be enough…
Likewise If you’re active, then a Wear ‘em out Medium Flo pad is the most secure choice whilst you’re going for a run or taking that spin class…
You might not even realise that in the heat of the summer, you can really get some comfort and relief from a Hippynut pad topped with a bamboo cotton layer; and the Honour Your Flow liner and Elskbar liner are both so light…you basically can’t feel them at all.
And this is what my subscription box is aimed to support. Providing a variety of pad types, and brands, fabrics, and mix of absorbencies whilst you figure this out. All in one easy, regular package that fits through a letter box.
Variety is a good thing!
It gives my subscribers both a little bit of discovery and surprise so that they feel spoilt, and pampered and special whilst receiving the best quality.
And when your stash has enough pads, then you just stop. Or stop and then start again when your budget allows. (Or you can top up with your favourite pads using your personal subscriber discount, by the way!)
It’s fully flexible and I’m always restocking my brands so your monthly cut off is up to the minute your subscription renews.
