How to dry reusable period pads and pants
The best way to dry period pads and underwear is by air drying.
For pads I use a “sock” or “octopus” airer to save on space and keep them from falling on the floor, or you can peg them to an indoor airer or washing line.
Pants dry best turned inside out, so the absorbent sections can get the most air circulation. I also wash them inside out as well so they get the best possible clean.
You can pick up one of these peg airers for a couple of quid at Wilko. They are the best way to dry socks as well!
Golden rule
The main thing to remember is do not put pads or pants directly on a heat source such as a radiator, so the PUL (waterproof layer) doesn’t melt.
Good quality pad brands can withstand the occasional tumble in a drier at a low temperature, but they dry so fast it’s not usually required. For both pads and pants always follow the manufacturers instructions.
It's also worth mentioning that naturally absorbent fabrics such as bamboo, hemp and cotton can tend to shrink slightly with washing.
